Nonthaburi Province
Nonthaburi was re-established as an independent province on May 9, 1946.

On August 7, 2026, a mass shooting occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi, Thailand. The incident resulted in the deaths of nine people, including the perpetrator, and left approximately thirty others injured.

Debsirin Nonthaburi School is part of the Debsirin School Network, a coalition of institutions affiliated with the prominent Debsirin School in Bangkok. The perpetrator was identified as 14-year-old Patchata Yimruang, a student in Mathayom 3 (grade 9). Reports indicated that he lived with his grandparents and had been subjected to bullying at school.
Prior to the school attack, the perpetrator killed his paternal grandparents at their residence in the Soi Wat Lat Pla Duk area of Bang Bua Thong. Investigators determined he shot them in their home before traveling to the school.
The school shooting began at approximately 9:30 a.m. ICT. The perpetrator, dressed in a physical education uniform, entered building 5 and opened fire on the sixth floor, killing two teachers. He moved through the building, targeting staff and students across multiple floors. The assailant eventually barricaded himself in a third-floor computer room. Police and special operations units arrived shortly after 10:00 a.m. and secured the school by 10:30 a.m., at which point the perpetrator died by suicide.

The attack claimed nine lives in total. Seven victims died at the scenes of the shootings, including five school staff members and the perpetrator's two grandparents. A 12-year-old student who was critically wounded during the school attack died in the hospital the following day. King Vajiralongkorn provided support for the victims' families and accepted the injured as patients under royal care.
Authorities investigated the incident, noting that the perpetrator had been a victim of school bullying and was under significant academic pressure.
