[2] The county is named for General Anthony Wayne.According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 814 square miles (2,110 km2), of which 811 square miles (2,100 km2) is land and 2.8 square miles (7.3 km2) (0.3%) is water.[3] It is the fifth-largest county in Mississippi by land area.As of the 2020 United States Census, there were 19,779 people, 7,683 households, and 5,390 families residing in the county.[12] The county is in the zone for Jones College.
