Sharkstooth Peak
Sharkstooth Peak is a 12,468-foot-elevation (3,800-meter) mountain summit in Montezuma County, Colorado.[1] Sharkstooth Peak is located 17 miles (27 km) northwest of the community of Durango on land managed by San Juan National Forest.Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises 2,300 feet (700 meters) above Bear Creek in one mile (1.6 km).[2] The mountain's toponym has been officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names.[4] Due to its altitude, it receives precipitation all year, as snow in winter and as thunderstorms in summer, with a dry period in late spring.
