Allard H. Gasque

Following his death, he was succeeded in office by his wife Elizabeth Hawley Gasque.Born on Friendfield Plantation, near Hyman, Marion (now Florence) County, South Carolina, Gasque attended the public schools.He was the principal of Waverly Graded School in Columbia, South Carolina from 1901 to 1902.He was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-eighth and to the seven succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1923, until his death in Washington, D.C., on June 17, 1938.He was interred in Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence, South Carolina.
