Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011
In the final on 30 January 2011, "With Love Baby" performed by Witloof Bay was selected as the winner via the votes of a four-member jury panel and a public televote.Performing during the show in position 4, "With Love Baby" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the second semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final.[1] Since then, the country has won the contest on one occasion in 1986 with the song "J'aime la vie" performed by Sandra Kim.The Belgian participation in the contest alternates between two broadcasters: the Flemish Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (VRT) and the Walloon RTBF.On 27 August 2010, RTBF confirmed Belgium's participation in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest and announced that a national final would be held to select their entry.The first stage took place between 20 September 2010 and 31 December 2010 where interested artists had the opportunity to submit their entries through an online platform launched by RTBF and music company Akamusic and have them listed for public listening.In the show thirty entries competed and the combination of results from an expert jury and a public televote determined the top fourteen that qualified to the final.[17] The final took place on 12 February 2011 at the Palais des Congrès in Liège, hosted by Jean-Louis Lahaye and Maureen Louys where the fourteen entries that qualified from the preceding semi-final competed.[19] The winner, "With Love Baby" performed by Witloof Bay, was selected by the combination of results from an expert jury and a public televote.This jury was asked to judge each contestant based on: vocal capacity; the stage performance; the song's composition and originality; and the overall impression by the act.
