Stuart F. Reed
Stuart Felix Reed (January 8, 1866 – July 4, 1935) was an American lawyer and Republican politician who became the Secretary of State of West Virginia (1909–1917) and represented West Virginia's 3rd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives (1917–1925).He graduated from the Fairmont State Normal School in 1885 and from the law department of West Virginia University at Morgantown in 1889.[2] He founded and edited the Athenaeum (college journal) in 1889 and was the editor of the Telegram in Clarksburg, West Virginia from 1890 to 1898.He was a member of the International Tax Conference at Louisville, Kentucky in 1909 and the Secretary of State of West Virginia from 1909 to 1917.After leaving Congress, Reed engaged in literary pursuits and changed his residence to Washington, D.C.[4] He died there on July 4, 1935.
