Mórahalom
The name of the town originates from the sand dune of “Móra Halma”, which was first mentioned in 1729.[citation needed] Growth of the settlement was due the prosperity of local farmers who had utilized the “golden eyed” sand of the area.Recently, industrial workplaces are being created through small- and medium enterprise development programmes, the service sector is developing at a small regional level, and based on medical tourism a spa town has been established on the Sand Ridge region.[citation needed] Mórahalom is twinned with:[3] Speedway Maraton Salakmotor (B.S.K.)[4] The venue is located at (46°10′14″N 19°54′49″E / 46.17056°N 19.91361°E / 46.17056; 19.91361), adjacent to the motocross track which was run by the speedway rider Róbert Nagy for several years and hosted an international meeting between Hungary and Poland in 2013.
