[3] The town used to be a part of Pintuyan, Southern Leyte composed of 16 barangays, namely: Alangalang, Benit, Bitoon, Buenavista, Cabutan, Camang, Capingkit, Cogon, Esperanza, Kinachawa (Kinatsawa), Lobo, Piinut-an, San Ramon, San Ricardo, Saub, and Timba.On October 24, 1965, it was made a separate town through Executive Order 194 signed by President Diosdado Macapagal.It's serves from a local point including Manila and Davao.DLTBCo, Ultrabus, and CUL Transportation and other bus companies served from San Ricardo to Luzon.Bachelor Express also serve San Ricardo from Davao to Ormoc and Tacloban.
