Luke Irvine-Capel

He trained for the priesthood at the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield, and undertook further studies at the University of Leeds, graduating with a Master of Arts (MA) degree.[4] Irvine-Capel was ordained in the Church in Wales by David Thomas, Provincial Assistant Bishop, the Church's bishop specially appointed to minister to those who cannot accept the ordination of women: he was made deacon at Petertide 2000 (4 July)[5] and ordained priest the Petertide next (2 July 2000).[6] He served his curacy at Abertillery, Cwmtillery, and Six Bells until 2001, then Minor Canon Precentor at Newport Cathedral until 2003.He moved to East Sussex in 2013, where he served as incumbent of Christ Church, St Leonards-on-Sea until 2019 (Priest-in-Charge until 2014, Rector thereafter).[7] On 10 December 2024, the Church of England announced that Irvine-Capel had been appointed to be the next Bishop of Richborough, a suffragan Bishop in the Province of Canterbury, providing Alternative Episcopal Oversight to traditional catholic parishes in the eastern side of the province that reject the ordination of women.
