Earl of Harewood

Earl of Harewood (/ˈhɑːrwʊd/ ⓘ[3]), in the County of York, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.[4] The title was created in 1812 for Edward Lascelles, 1st Baron Harewood, a wealthy sugar plantation owner and former Member of Parliament for Northallerton.He was a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and was in the line of succession to the British Throne.Francis Lascelles was a Commissioner in the High Court of Justice for the trial of King Charles I although did not sign the death warrant, whilst Francis' brother was Thomas Lascelles, who served in the Parliamentarian Army.Edwin Lascelles, fourth son of the second Earl, sat as member of parliament for Ripon.
