Gymnastics at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's pommel horse

The men's pommel horse competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held on August 17 at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium.The eight competitors (with a maximum of two per nation) with the highest scores in qualifying proceeded to the men's pommel horse finals.[1] The event was won by Xiao Qin of China, the nation's second consecutive and third overall victory in the pommel horse.Xiao Qin of China had won the last three world championships (2005, 2006, and 2007), earned the nickname "Pommel King," and was heavily favored in Beijing.The United States made its 20th appearance, most of any nation; the Americans had missed only the inaugural 1896 pommel horse and the boycotted 1980 Games.
