Environmental Protection Authority (New Zealand)

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA; Māori: Te Mana Rauhī Taiao) is a New Zealand government agency (Crown entity/agent).The EPA name had been in use since 2009, when it applied to a unit of the Ministry for the Environment responsible for administering a section of the Resource Management Act relating to proposals of national significance.[5] The EPA has a number of advisory groups and decision-making committees: The EPA's Board is appointed by The Minister for the Environment and must have at least one member with experience relating to the Treaty of Waitangi and tikanga Māori (Māori customary values and practices).Ngā Kaihautū Tikanga Taiao, is a statutory Māori advisory committee legally appointed by the EPA Board.Members provide a broad overview of Māori interests, rather than representing their individual iwi.
